The short version: you do not need an account, your answers stay in your browser, and if you save a plan we store it encrypted in a form we cannot read.

What this covers

This covers relocate.werqt.org, the relocation planner run by WERQ TOGETHER. Our other sites have their own policies. This planner is built to hold as little about you as possible, so this page is shorter than most.

What we collect

No account, no name, no email, no phone number. We do not ask who you are to use the planner.

The answers you type into the planner, including anything you tell us about housing, money, health, benefits, disability, or the communities you belong to, stay in your browser while you build your plan. They are used on your device to build the plan and to look up matching resources. We do not keep them.

Looking up resources

To show you resources, your browser sends your destination and the general categories you need (for example housing, or the communities you selected) to our server so it can pick matching listings. We use it to answer that one request and do not store it or attach it to you.

If you save a plan to come back to

Saving is optional. If you choose it, your plan is encrypted on your device before anything is sent. The key that unlocks it lives in the part of the link after the # symbol, which browsers never send to a server. We receive and store only the scrambled version.

That means we cannot read your saved plan, and neither can anyone who might compel us to hand over what we hold. It also means the link is the only way in. Anyone who has the whole link can open your plan, so treat it like a key and share it only with people you trust. If you lose it, we cannot recover the plan for you.

A saved plan is deleted automatically after 90 days without being opened. Opening it starts the 90 days over.

How we count use of the planner

We do count how much the planner is used, so we know whether it is working and where it breaks. We built the counting so that it cannot describe you.

Each thing we count is written down as three pieces: what happened (for example “a plan was built”), the date it happened, and sometimes one short label from a fixed list we wrote in advance (for example the screen name, a state code like OR, an age range, or a community you selected). That is the whole record. There is no identifier of any kind, no address, no device or browser details, and nothing you typed. We do not write down the time of day. Anything outside our fixed list is thrown away rather than stored.

We do count some things about who is using the planner, so we can show we are reaching the communities we mean to and see where people are moving from. Each of those is written as its own separate count: one file says “someone came from Texas”, another says “someone is over 55”. They are never written together, so no record ties your age to where you are from to your community.

Because no record carries an identifier, and no record holds two facts that could be matched to each other, these counts cannot be linked to you or to your plan. We can see that a hundred plans were built this month. We cannot see anyone’s path through the planner, and neither can anyone who asks us for it. That limit is deliberate, and we chose it over a more detailed picture on purpose.

One honest caveat, because we would rather say it than not: each count is stored as a file, and the storage service stamps every file with the moment it was written, the way any file has a modified date. We do not use those stamps and they are not part of the record, so we cannot rule out that someone with access to the raw files could notice that two counts were written close together. Everything else above holds.

If you send us feedback

At the end of the plan you can tell us whether it was helpful and write a note. This is the one place we store something you typed, and only if you choose to send it. We keep the rating and the words you write, plus the date, and nothing else: not your answers, not your plan, not an address. We ask you to leave personal details out of the note, and we store whatever you send as-is, so please do.

If you ask us to check in

At the end of the plan you can leave an email to have us follow up in about a month. This is the one place, and the only one, where we hold something that could identify you, and only because you chose to give it. We store just that email and an optional first name, nothing from your plan, and we delete it automatically after 45 days. You can reply to our note and tell us to stop at any time.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your information. We do not run advertising on this site. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics here, and we do not set cookies to follow you.

Who can see your information

Because we do not hold your answers, there is very little to share. Our hosting provider processes the encrypted saved plans on our behalf and cannot read them either. We will not hand over information we do not have, and if we ever received a legal demand, encrypted plans would be all that exists.

Resource listings

The organizations listed in your plan come from a directory WERQ TOGETHER maintains. Those listings are public information about organizations, not about you. We refresh them periodically, and we can be wrong or out of date. Contacting an organization from your plan is between you and them, under their own privacy practices.

Young people

This planner is meant for adults planning a move, including adults moving with children. It does not ask for a child's information. If you are under 18, we would rather you go through this with an adult you trust, and the organizations in your plan can help you find one.

Your choices

You can leave at any time and nothing is kept. You can use the planner without ever saving. If you saved a plan and want it gone sooner than 90 days, simply stop opening it and it will delete itself, or email us and we can remove the stored record if you send us the link.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects what we hold, we will say so plainly on the site.
